Jin Long Chan Yao : Circulating Qi On The Belt Channel

Physical: Stand in the Wuji posture hands in front of the body palms down. Move the weight to the left leg and push the foot into the ground, as you do the body slightly raises and the hands move out. With this momentum the weight transfers to the right foot, as it does the hands circle in front of the body and come back towards the body as the weight falls into the right foot. The weight is then allowed to transfer back into the left foot and the movement begins again. The motion of the hands should be circular as if stirring a pot in front of the lower Dan Tian.

The movement is then repeated in the opposite direction as we drop the weight into the right foot and gently push down to begin the hands moving forward.

Energetic: In this movement we are focusing on the Dai Mai or Belt channel. This is the only meridian that has a horizontal plane, running around the waist. With this movement we move Qi around the Belt channel. The Qi follows the direction the hands move, for example when the hands are close to the body the Qi is moving around the back of the body along the channel. When the hands are away from the body the Qi is moving around the abdomen along the same channel. Again remember the external movements are mirroring the internal movements. Overtime the internal should guide the external not the other way round.

Breathing: The peak of the inhalation should be as the hands are away from the body directly in front. The peak of the exhalation should occur when the hands are directly in front but close to the body.
