Wuji Gong Heaven Cycle

Section One: Linking the Earth Cycle to the Heavenly Cycle

Once the Earth cycle is finished we need to turn to the left before we start the Heavenly cycle. To accomplish this, move the weight into the right foot and turn to the left as we have done before. As we turn the left hand moves palm down and is about chest height, the right hand comes out to the side and slightly up, in a scooping motion the right hand scoops down and rests underneath the left holding a ball. At this point you are facing the direction that was to your left, holding a ball right hand underneath. From here move the right hand up along the centre line and the left hand down along the same line. With our intention we link ourselves to Heaven and Earth. As the right hand moves up it pulls the Earth energy upwards and then connects our own energy to the Heavens. As the left hand moves down, it guides in the Heavenly Energy through the top of the head and connects us tothe Earthly energy as it pushes downwards.

Section Two: Tiger Washing Face

The right hand now moves out to the side palm up. The weight moves to the left and as it does the right hand moves towards the face in a washing motion downwards. The right hand washes the left side of the face and the left hand washes the right side of the face. Repeat this movement 10 times, 5 times with each hand. When complete both hands rest close to the Dan Tian ready to turn left again and repeat the process. The movement is repeated at each direction until all 4 are complete. This should leave you standing in the original position where we finished the Earthly cycle. Advanced Tip: remember we can also slightly move the waist to turn the hand andcreate the momentum to pull the hand in towards the face.

Section Three: Stirring the Cauldron

When the last direction is completed we begin to stir the Cauldron. The Cauldron is the Dan Tian, located about an inch an a half below the navel, inside the body. Although an acupuncture point the Dan Tian itself can be considered more of an area than an exact point. Over time you will feel exactly where this area is, after practice the Dan Tian may begin to feel warm and can often fill the whole lower abdomen. To stir the Cauldron, first we move the weight to the left foot, at the same time use the right hand to stir the belly. The right hand moves over to the left at the solar plexus level and then moves down, the left hand moves over to the right and then down. Repeat this process until 9 repetitions have been completed, this is 5 with theright hand and 4 with the left.

Section Four: Returning To The Centre

Repeat the samemove that also ended the Earth cycle. The Heavenly cycle will often create a very light feeling, you may also find you mind tends to wander more during the Heavenly cycle. However try not to see them as two separate things. Wuji is about reconciling opposites, so the two cycles should be seen as two sides of the same coin, one cannot exist without the other, essentially they are one thing. Also remember the key points, relax, breathe, and then relax again.
